Binance Founder CZ Shares Giggle Academy Update, What About Sentence Hearing?
Amidst the wait for his upcoming sentence hearing, former Binance CEO Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao has taken to X to give an update on how far his new project Giggle Academy is performing.
Binance Founder Shares Update on Giggle Academy
CZ introduced Giggle Academy almost two weeks ago while he was facing trial for some criminal charges. The project is focused on offering free basic education to children in different jurisdictions. As a nonprofit organization, Giggle Academy would have no revenue while deploying gamification and an adaptive curriculum for end users.
At the time, he stated that the hiring process for employees who would work directly with him had begun. To this end, the Binance Founder posted a request for teachers who can create content. This move ended up sparking positive reactions from the wider cryptocurrency community who felt that the project would have a positive impact on millions of people.
Some updates on @GiggleAcademy.
We got a team of 10 now. Some part time, some full time. All remote. We have calls together 3 times a week, in addition to adhoc smaller chats.
Hiring is on-going. I do a dozen interviews a week. We are targeting a 15 people team initially.

In his latest update, CZ confirmed that Giggle Academy has a team of 10 people at present, although some of them are part-time staff while others are full-time. All of these employees would be working remotely. To keep the team in sync, a conference call is held three times every week in addition to other smaller ad hoc chats. The hiring process is still ongoing since CZ wants a team of 15 people.
In terms of content, the first phonics lesson has been finalized and is only waiting for production. Considering the fact that an average household, particularly Giggle Academy’s target market, is more likely to first purchase an Android device before any other type, CZ noted that it is better to launch an Android version before a Web version.
The team also considered that kids would find it easier to navigate the use of smartphones with touch screens. Generally, Giggle Academy is still in the building phase and CZ is putting effort into ensuring that it meets his expectations.
CZ Remains in the US Until April Hearing
Noteworthy, CZ hinted at plans to launch this project in the heat of his trial. During that time, he did not share too many details about the project as he only acknowledged that it was educational. His trial is still ongoing but he has not made any comment about it in recent times.
Before the launch of Giggle Academy, CZ’s bail bond was modified, further compelling him to remain in the United States until after his sentence hearing. The Binance co-founder is allowed to travel within the U.S. but this must be done after the Pretrial Services has been duly notified. He would also be allowed this travel in the company of a third-party custodian who will be in possession of his passport and other travel documents.
Until his trial ends, CZ may remain bound by these numerous restrictions while awaiting his sentence hearing scheduled to take place by April 30.
