Elon Musk Says AI Will Outshine Smartest Human By 2025
Tesla owner Elon Musk is positive that Artificial Intelligence (AI) models that can outshine even the smartest humans will be designed in the coming year or in 2026.
AI Tools and Human Functions
On Monday, the billionaire entrepreneur, who runs Tesla, X, and SpaceX was featured in an interview with Nicolai Tangen, the chief executive of Norges Bank Investment Management. During these wide-ranging interviews on X spaces, Musk expressed his enthusiasm towards the development of innovative AI tools that are capable of revolutionizing the trajectory of human existence.
His stance is not unwarranted considering the number of new AI models that several firms have introduced since the start of this year. In March, newly launched applied AI firm Cognition Labs debuted the first AI software engineer called Devin. The “state-of-the-art” tool can perform autonomous coding tasks and also fine-tune its AI models. It can complete tasks on its own without interference or assistance from humans.
Sam Altman’s OpenAI has launched a couple of AI tools that perform varying functions and Sora is one of the latest. The OpenAI Sora AI engine transforms text into videos, a capability that revolutionizes content creation with cutting-edge AI and enhances creative possibilities.
This AI model works with a complex diffusion model framework that combines visual parts and narrative elements making it create visually attractive and contextually significant videos.
At the end of Q1, 2024, OpenAI introduced the Voice engine, an AI tool that is capable of recreating a person’s voice by using text input and a single 15-second recording sample. The AI tool is still undergoing testing by a small preselected group of people to check for the potential danger of utilizing it.
Key AI Challenges Pointed Out by Elon Musk
A look through these AI tools and some others that were not highlighted demonstrates a gradual development in innovative AI technology, and this improvement is the subject of Musk’s inference. He even went as far as hinting at the debut of the next version of Grok, the AI chatbot from his xAI start-up.
Amidst his positivity and enthusiasm towards AI, the Tesla CEO identified two constraints to the burgeoning industry, particularly to the upgrade of Grok: electricity availability and a shortage of advanced chips.
