Puppynet, the testnet version of Shiba Inu’s Layer-2 scaling solution Shibarium, is set to undergo a major upgrade to improve its scalability, security, and overall performance. Shiba Inu’s marketing executive Lucie revealed the development yesterday in an X post. The marketing specialist also retweeted a post from Shibarium’s official X handle confirming the upgrade. Shiba Inu Ecosystem Upgrade! 🚀 Puppynet Bor bone-beta + Cancun Hard Fork drops this Friday at 8am UTC! 🔥 Update your nodes for top performance & security! pic.twitter.com/vOkA9AqUVv — Shibarium Network (@ShibariumNet) September 13, 2024 Integrating Ethereum Features to Shibarium The upgrade, scheduled for 2:30 a.m. (ET) on Friday at block 4697000, will implement the Cancun hard fork and update the Bor software to version 1.3.7-bone-beta. Both upgrades leverage the latest advancements from Ethereum’s core software, Geth. Through the integration of Geth, Shibarium’s testnet will boast the same features and security currently inherent in Ethereum. Some of the features include faster execution of smart contracts, peer-to-peer networking, and enhanced block propagation. Other Notable Features of the New Upgrade Additionally, the upgrade will enhance the proof-of-stake (PoS) bridge, thereby improving cross-chain asset transfer between Shibarium and other blockchains. It will also provide users with efficient and affordable transactions by optimizing gas fees. Furthermore, the upgrade will prune historical block data from the nodes to save disk space. With this enhancement, Shibarium would remain lightweight, irrespective of the network’s future growth. Interestingly, the development team recognized the importance of enhanced security for blockchain networks. Consequently, the team designed the upgrade to improve error handling, roll out vulnerability patches, and fix bugs to ensure a secure network. Following the completion of the upgrade, Shibarium users will enjoy stable cross-chain transfers, faster transactions, enhanced security, as well as better disk management. Note to Node Operators In anticipation of the upgrade,…
