It’s rarer to see the group absent from the ranking than to find it securing another win. The band is responsible for some of the most successful and beloved hard rock cuts in American history, and even decades after many of them first found their way to the charts, the act continues to sell a healthy number of copies week after week. Metallica Owns 20% of the Chart This frame, Metallica fills a pair of spots on the tally, as it seems that purchases of the band’s catalog – or at least a few favorites – are growing. The Hard Rock Digital Song Sales ranking only includes 10 slots, so the group lays claim to 20% of the available real estate. Metallica regains control of the throne as “Enter Sandman” returns to No. 1, stepping up just one space from the runner-up position it sat in last time around. Last week’s champion, “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC, dips to third. “Enter Sandman” has now spent 696 weeks on the chart.
