The Bank of Japan (BoJ) is considering reducing the pace of its Japanese government bond (JGB) tapering by half, beginning in April 2026, per the Japan News.  The BOJ’s monthly buying of Japanese government bonds has been eased by about ¥400 billion every quarter. But a proposal has been floated to reduce that figure to about ¥200 billion per month. Its mandate is to issue banknotes and carry out currency and monetary control to ensure price stability, which means an inflation target of around 2%.
