In a significant stride for blockchain innovation, IOTA has announced the launch of its Rebased Mainnet and the debut of the TWIN Foundation, marking a transformative quarter for the organization. According to the IOTA Blog, these developments aim to enhance IOTA’s capabilities as a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain and bolster its role in global digital trade. Research & Development The focal point of IOTA’s Q2 2025 was the successful launch of the IOTA Rebased Mainnet, a project that has been in development for over a year. This upgrade positions IOTA as a competitive Layer 1 blockchain, aligning with other major networks in terms of performance and scalability. In addition to this, IOTA is exploring account abstraction to improve user experience and security, with plans to introduce programmable on-chain accounts by early Q3. The team is also working on integrating passkey authentication to streamline wallet onboarding processes. Product Adoption Progress in product adoption was marked by the onboarding of ObjectID, Orobo, and Impierce Technologies into the Business Innovation Program, aiming to deliver solutions on the IOTA Mainnet. Additionally, the IOTA Gas Station received an upgrade to version 0.2, allowing for more flexible transaction fee sponsorship. The IOTA Identity tool also advanced with a new beta release, facilitating decentralized identifier management without exposing users to blockchain complexities. TWIN and TLIP Initiatives The TWIN Foundation’s official launch on May 8th in Lusaka signifies a commitment to enhancing digital trade infrastructure.
