IOTA and Dell Secure Future of IoT with New Patent for Distributed Ledger Technology
A Dell patent talks of using IOTA Tangle allowing interaction with a wide range of ledgers, and ledger types that can natively support event streaming, such as IOTA Streams.
IOTA and Dell have worked on a number of projects ranging from measuring carbon footprint to transforming urban mobility, etc.
Dell Technologies has recently published a new patent in the market that proposes the use of IOTA’s Tangle technology for its Data Confidence Fabric View Models. One of the examples of these models is receiving data at a node of a data confidence fabric and annotating at the node.
The data with an annotation basically includes data confidence information while receiving a ledger stream at the ledger. Besides, the ledger stream includes the annotation and the representation of data. This creates a data structure associated with the ledger along with a view node that corresponds to the data.
Dell explains the construction of a view model facilitated through abstraction and providing a stream-like interface. This approach will allow interaction with a wide range of ledgers, and ledger types that can natively support event streaming, such as IOTA Streams, or smart contracts that can be wrapped by a library to mimic the streaming behavior.

Dell-IOTA partnership on multiple initiatives
It is not the first time that Dell has been talking about leveraging the power of the IOTA ecosystem. Previously, the two players have partnered on a number of initiatives right from building smart cities to reducing the carbon footprint.
Numerous organizations in the climate industry have raised concerns about effectively measuring their carbon footprint. In response, Dell Technologies, ZEDEDA, IOTA Foundation, and ClimateCHECK have collaborated to utilize Project Alvarium’s Data Confidence Fabric (DCF) framework and Project EVE’s capabilities. The aim is to tackle the challenges faced by these organizations and provide cloud computing solutions to remote areas.
Furthermore, IOTA and Dell Technologies have partnered to bring the use cases of sustainable energy to digital cities of the future. Both players are now looking into transforming Urban Mobility using Intelligent Security systems (ISS) enabled by Dell infrastructure. The solution employs a combination of analytics, video recording, and control center modules that operate on a dedicated computing environment.
The partnership between Dell and IOTA will provide cost-effective options for efficient traffic management and enhanced citizen safety. The solution will bring numerous benefits to transport authorities, such as heightened situational awareness, improved compliance, faster incident response, optimized traffic management, and the ability to detect and track violations.
Recently, Dell and IOTA together with LF Edge worked on monitoring the carbon footprint in Chile’s biogas plant. Corporations working in the green energy industry have expressed a major concern regarding the delivery of accurate data in the climate sector. The task involves processing data from sensors that measure solids, water, gases, and anaerobic digestion processes. This task provides real-time and reliable insights into the carbon footprint of the facility.
