KuCoin Rolls Out Stock Index Perpetual Contracts to Strengthen Its 24/7 Trading Infrastructure
TL;DR:
KuCoin launched stock index perpetual contracts; Tesla (TSLAUSDT) and MicroStrategy (MSTRUSDT) are the first available assets.
Contracts operate 24/7; entry starts from 1 USDT with an institutional-grade pricing framework featuring EMA smoothing.
The platform is committed to strengthening the bridge between traditional finance and crypto infrastructure.
KuCoin announced the launch of its stock index perpetual contracts, a synthetic derivative product that allows trading references linked to company shares on the stock exchange without the need to hold the underlying securities. The first available contracts are the Tesla Index Perpetual Contract (TSLAUSDT) and the MicroStrategy Index Perpetual Contract (MSTRUSDT), settled in stablecoins.
The new instrument aims to address a structural limitation of traditional markets: the concentration of liquidity risks at market open and close during trading sessions. In those periods, price conditions can deteriorate abruptly and trigger unwanted technical liquidations.
KuCoin designed the product with three mechanisms to mitigate that problem: institutional-grade reference prices, a marking system sensitive to the active market session, and exponential moving average (EMA) smoothing to reduce dislocations during transition moments.
KuCoin: Convergence as a Long-Term Strategy
BC Wong, CEO of KuCoin, stated that “next-generation financial infrastructure must go beyond asset tokenization” and that the convergence between traditional finance and cryptocurrencies demands more reliable pricing, continuous access, and more disciplined risk controls. The launch is part of the company’s Trust-First strategy, which prioritizes infrastructure soundness over the mere expansion of its product offering.
From an access standpoint, the ability to open positions from 1 USDT expands the universe of potential users well beyond institutional traders. The product operates continuously, enabling exposure management around events outside conventional market hours, such as earnings announcements, monetary policy decisions, or geopolitical developments that impact prices before regulated markets resume trading.
KuCoin indicated that it will continue refining the product framework, with potential improvements in pricing methodologies, risk management systems, and liquidity mechanisms, with the goal of protecting users and ensuring stable operations.
