The New York representative faces a maximum of six months in jail if convicted on the charge. A spokesperson for Bowman, a member of the House Progressive Caucus, told Forbes at the time that Bowman “did not realize” he had triggered a fire alarm, but rather that he was “rushing to make an urgent vote” on the continued resolution to fund the budget, adding the second-term representative “regrets any confusion.” Bowman is slated for an arraignment at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Washington, D.C., though a spokesperson for Bowman told Axios that Washington D.C. Assistant Attorney General Peter Saba agreed to withdraw the charge against Bowman if he apologizes and pays a fine of $1,000. Bowman will reportedly plead guilty and pay the fine.
