Microstrategy Plans To Provide Bitcoin Lightning Solutions
Michael Saylor, the executive chairman of MicroStrategy, has said that the company plans to use the Bitcoin Lightning Network to power software and solutions by the year 2023.
Saylor revealed on the 28th of December, in a recent Twitter Space, that the company is investigating software and solutions that make use of the Lightning Network. These may include solutions that “support” enterprise marketing as well as a cybersecurity solution aimed at corporate websites. Saylor’s news comes just a few days after he told everyone that the company was going to start a new cryptocurrency.
The Lightning Network is a layer-2 payment system that is implemented on top of Bitcoin’s blockchain. It lets transactions happen outside of the blockchain, which speeds up payments and lowers transaction costs at the same time.
The business intelligence and technology company, which is well-known for its massive Bitcoin holdings, has been looking to strengthen its Lightning Network-versed team. Most recently, the company announced that it was looking to hire a Bitcoin Lightning Software Engineer in order to build a software-as-a-service platform that is based on the Lightning Network.
During the Twitter Spaces, Saylor discussed how chief marketing officers would be able to leverage the Lightning Network to incentivize consumers by, for example, handing them Satoshi prizes for participating in activities like writing positive reviews or filling out surveys. According to what he stated, the firm also has the goal of making it feasible for any business to “spin up” Lightning infrastructure in an “afternoon.”
The chairman of MicroStrategy brought up his “Lightning Wall” cybersecurity concept once more in his presentation. The “Lightning Wall” is basically a Bitcoin-based paywall that would protect websites from cyberattacks by requiring visitors to make an initial deposit in Satoshi.
Saylor said that customers who wish to access critical business websites would be asked to pay “100,000 Satoshi” to “ensure” safe passage. This amount is reimbursed promptly after the user has completed their visit to the website in question. Michael Saylor exacted his revenge on Eric Wall in the month of October for suggesting that Saylor had not completed more than three lightning transactions in his whole life. Saylor said that Wall’s statement was false.
The Lightning Address, a new form of Bitcoin address, was only recently created. This address type enables users to conduct transactions on the Lightning Network extremely immediately, in contrast to the typical transaction time of 10 minutes required for traditional Bitcoin transactions.
