That’s quite the claim, but the Swedish band created some of the most memorable tunes in the genre. Many of ABBA’s singles from half a century ago are not only still beloved, they remain heavily consumed to this day. The continued popularity of quite a few of the group’s tracks and the compilation on which they’ve been collected is incredibly impressive. Gold – Greatest Hits has become a fixture on the charts in the United Kingdom, and it will likely never disappear. This week is a very special one for the title, as the compilation reaches a landmark that has seemingly never been seen before in the country. Gold Reaches a Major Milestone Gold rises on the Official Albums chart this frame, nearly reentering the top 10 as it jumps from No. 18 to No. 11. It does so while celebrating 1,200 weeks on the list of the most popular releases in the U.K. It appears that ABBA’s compilation is the first project to reach that figure. Bob Marley and Queen Are Close Behind Two other titles are not far behind Gold and will likely reach 1,200 weeks on the Official Albums chart in the coming months.
