The announcement comes shortly after Amazon’s most recent earnings release on October 31, reinforcing the company’s commitment to expanding its AI and cloud infrastructure across the U.S.
A Transformational Data Center Investment
The $3 billion investment marks the largest private project in Warren County’s history. The new campus will support Amazon’s fast-growing AI and cloud computing needs, serving as part of the infrastructure that powers global AWS operations.
The development will create at least 200 direct jobs at the campus, with another 300 full-time equivalent positions expected across the local economy. Thousands of construction and supply chain jobs will also be supported statewide, reflecting Amazon’s long-term presence in Mississippi.
Amazon said the facilities will use custom chips, advanced network architecture, and energy-efficient systems, similar to those used in the world’s largest AI compute clusters.
Strengthening Mississippi’s Technology Landscape
Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves said the investment will cement the state’s role as a rising technology hub. Warren County and Vicksburg, long recognized for their strategic position along the Mississippi River, will now gain new relevance as centers of advanced digital infrastructure.
Local leaders emphasized that the project will bring enduring benefits through job creation, tax revenue gains and increased business activity. Pablo Diaz, CEO of the Vicksburg-Warren Partnership, called it a “defining moment” for the region.
Expanding Amazon’s Economic Footprint in the State
The new project builds on Amazon’s $10 billion investment in Madison County announced in 2024, where two data center campuses are already in development. Across Mississippi, the company now supports dozens of contractors and thousands of workers involved in facilities, logistics and energy projects.
Amazon’s Mississippi presence includes:
Data center campuses
Six fulfillment and sortation centers
Five renewable energy projects generating 616 MW
Five delivery stations
Workforce Development and Skills Training
Amazon’s investment will be paired with extensive workforce development initiatives supporting both current and future workers. Its partnerships with AccelerateMS, community colleges and local schools have already reached more than 6,500 Mississippi learners.
Programs include:
Data center operations and fiber optic technician training
Fusion splicing certification workshops
Cloud computing career workshops for educators
A paid AWS pre-apprenticeship program offering job interviews
Community Empowerment Through New Grant Fund
To support long-term community growth, Amazon launched the Warren County Community Fund, contributing $150,000 toward STEM education, digital skills, sustainability and cultural programs. Grants of up to $10,000 will be available to residents, nonprofits and local organizations.
With its sweeping economic, educational and technological impact, Amazon’s $3 billion investment positions Warren County as a key node in America’s accelerating AI infrastructure buildout.
