Billionaire Tim Draper Sees Bitcoin as Lifeboat Amid U.S. Dollar Decline
In an interview with Cointelegraph, Draper warned that the U.S. dollar could become obsolete within two decades, claiming we are witnessing a transformative shift in how money is perceived globally.
According to Draper, Bitcoin is increasingly seen as a hedge against government mismanagement, inflation, and financial instability. He described it as an “escape valve” amid growing distrust in centralized systems.
While Bitcoin’s halving events have historically triggered boom-bust cycles, Draper argues that the diminishing strength of the dollar could drive Bitcoin’s price more than supply shocks in the future.
“The macro trend may soon outweigh the halving effect,” he said, noting that as fiat currencies lose their appeal, Bitcoin’s adoption could accelerate on its own trajectory.
Not everyone agrees. Some industry leaders maintain that the halving cycle still holds predictive power, pointing to past performance patterns. But the growing view among investors is that Bitcoin is now a global macro asset, no longer defined solely by its internal mechanics.
