Acquisitions of Farmunited GmbH and Ecotech further enhance ETO GRUPPE’s Agtech and sensor technology offerings, with plans to transition to the IOTA mainnet in 2024.

The IOTA Foundation has been at the forefront of key initiatives concerning traffic management and smart city solutions. The IOTA DLT finds its place in yet another such application and shall be working with the ETO GRUPPE on integrating smart traffic sensors.

Benjamin Bonisch, the Senior Vice President of Digital Products & Services at ETO GRUPPE, revealed the company’s ambitious projects during an interview. ETO GRUPPE embarked on the development of Alfried, a comprehensive project integrating smart traffic sensors and gateway boxes. These devices communicate through various protocols like DSRC, V2X, LoRa, and incorporate an IOTA trust layer. The project, initiated in late 2020, has now reached completion and is slated for industrialization until 2026.

In addition to Alfried, ETO GRUPPE ventured into the creation of Farmsense in collaboration with Farmunited GmbH. Farmsense comprises sensors, irrigation valves, and a LoRa Gateway, supporting connectivity protocols like NB-IoT, LoRa, BLE, all anchored by the IOTA platform.

To explore data monetization for farmers, ETO GRUPPE launched Cawaena.com, an independent software project integrating ShimmerNet. The platform hosts a production wallet on Android and has been operational for four weeks.

Recognizing the need for a Fiat On- and Off-ramp solution within their ecosystem, ETO GRUPPE collaborated with Viviswapcom’s skilled web3 developers. This endeavor, supported by seed investment from ETO GRUPPE, has been live since 2023.

Addressing Cyber Security Concerns With the Help of IOTA

Addressing cybersecurity concerns surrounding hardware, ETO GRUPPE partnered with Filancore GmbH to fortify their devices. Seed investment from ETO GRUPPE facilitated the setup, leading to faster scaling.

Expanding their capabilities, ETO GRUPPE acquired Farmunited GmbH and Ecotech in Bonn. With profound domain knowledge in Agtech and sensor technology, these acquisitions bolster ETO GRUPPE’s offerings.

As their projects near fruition, ETO GRUPPE plans to transition to the IOTA mainnet. The roadmap for 2024 promises significant advancements, underscoring the complexity and duration involved in building atop the IOTA network, particularly DePIN, as reported by Crypto News Flash.
