Mask NetworkがMastodonサーバー「Pawoo」買収 暗号化メッセージングプロトコル「マスクネットワーク（Mask Network）」の関連会社「ソーシャルコープ（Social Coop）」が、分散型ソーシャルネットワーク「マストドン（Mastodon）」のサーバー（インスタンス）である「パウー（Pawoo）」を買収したことを12月20日に発表した。 「マストドン」はユーザー自身が、サーバーを開設するか、開設済みのサーバーを選んで参加する分散型SNSとなっており、現在190万人の月間アクティブユーザーを抱えている。またサーバーは単体として機能せずノードとして運用されている。 また「パウー」は元々、日本のIT企業ラッセルが2017年から運営していたサーバーだ。「パウー」ではイラストレーターやアニメファン、小説家、音楽愛好家など世界中で約80万人のユーザーを抱えており、「マストドン」で2番目に大きいサーバーだという。 そして今回の「パウー」買収は、マスクネットワークによる分散型ソーシャルネットワーク及び、無料でオープンなインターネットの構築に向けた動きとのことだ。 なおマストドン公式アプリは、以前にマスクネットワークが「マストドン」のコアビルダーチーム及び、ニューヨーク拠点のデザイン会社リッカビリティ（Lickability）と協力して作成したとのこと。 マスクネットワークは、ユーザーがTwitterやFacebookを介して暗号化されたメッセージを送信できるようにするプロトコルだ。ネイティブトークン「MASK」の保有者は、MaskDAOと呼ばれる自律分散型組織（DAO）を通じて、エコシステムの取り組みに投票ができる。 今年7月には、分散型ソーシャルネットワークエコシステムを構築する為、4,200万ドル（約55億円）規模のファンドを立ち上げており、分散型ソーシャルネットワークやインフラストラクチャ、クリエイティブコンテンツに投資していくことを発表していた。 関連ニュース ツイッター創業者ジャック、分散型ソーシャルメディアの展望示す ツイッターへの投資理由は「言論の自由支持のため」、バイナンスCZ言及 バイナンス、ツイッターのブロックチェーン活用支援するチーム組成 イーロンマスクのツイッター買収で、ドージコイン（DOGE）急騰 バイナンス・a16z・フィデリティら、イーロンマスクのツイッター買収をサポート…
