Tether, the issuer of the largest stablecoin USDT, announced in its latest announcement that it will stop supporting Omni, Bitcoin Cash SLP, Kusama, EOS, and Algorand. Tether announced that it will discontinue USDT support on the Omni Network (OMNI), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Smooth Love Potion (SLP), Kusama (KSM), EOS, and Algorand (ALGO) blockchains as part of its strategic infrastructure review. Holders are advised to use or move their tokens in accordance with Tether guidelines. He stated that this change, which will take effect from September 1, is part of the company’s strategy to simplify its operations, adapt to changing user demand, and focus on blockchains with higher efficiency and interaction. Tether today announced an update to its plan to halt USD₮ buybacks and freeze remaining tokens on five legacy blockchains (Omni Layer, Bitcoin Cash SLP, Kusama, EOS, and Algorand) starting September 1, 2025. Tether’s decision follows a thorough review. While these networks played a fundamental role in Tether’s early growth, the USD₮ volume circulating on them has declined significantly over the past two years. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said: “As the digital asset ecosystem evolves, Tether is committed to adapting. Ending support for these legacy chains allows us to focus on platforms that offer greater scalability, developer activity, and community engagement. Tether customers holding USD₮ on Omni, Kusama, SLP, EOS, and Algorand are required to liquidate their holdings as soon as possible or, if they wish, request USDT issuance on a supported blockchain in accordance with our Terms of Service. *This is not investment advice.
