In brief Aave said Tuesday that the SEC has closed its investigation into the lending protocol after four years. It comes a year after the President Trump-backed crypto project World Liberty Financial flirted with building on top of Aave, and bought $1 million worth of the AAVE token. This is just the latest in a long line of crypto cases being dropped by the SEC under Trump’s administration. Aave announced Tuesday that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has concluded its investigation into the decentralized finance (or DeFi) protocol, with no intention to recommend an enforcement action. It comes four years after the investigation was opened, the Aave CEO said on X, over which time the project has invested significant time, energy, and funds in protecting itself from the SEC. “This process demanded significant effort and resources from our team, and from me personally as the founder, to protect Aave, its ecosystem, and DeFi more broadly,” Stani Kulechov, CEO and founder of Aave, said on X, alongside a letter received from the SEC.
