The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a cautionary statement alerting the public about fraudulent websites impersonating DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited, according to an official press release from the HKMA. Details of the Fraudulent Activity The HKMA has reported that these fraudulent websites have been brought to their attention by DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited. The websites in question are designed to deceive users into providing sensitive personal information such as login passwords or One-Time Passwords (OTPs). HKMA’s Advisory The HKMA emphasizes that legitimate banks will never send SMS or emails containing embedded hyperlinks directing users to the banks’ websites for transactions. They also reiterate that banks will not request sensitive personal information over the phone, through email, or via SMS, including any embedded hyperlinks.
