The US labor market report on Friday did not come as a clear surprise on the negative side. As a result, there was no clear market reaction, but rather a fair amount of back and forth before equilibrium was established. What is important is that, at current levels, visible USD-negative surprises are needed to weaken the Greenback further. More than 25 basis points of interest rate cuts are priced into the Fed’s decision next week. And more than 100 basis points by the end of the year. Now, there may be early signs that the US labor market is weakening.
