KuCoin announced that it achieved ISO 27701:2025, the global standard for Privacy Information Management Systems.

According to the release, KuCoin said this milestone strengthens its data protection measures while building on earlier achievements. 

The company had already secured ISO 27001:2022, which focuses on information security management, and completed SOC 2 Type II audits, covering operational effectiveness. Together, these certifications reinforce its strategy of maintaining user trust.

The exchange said the ISO 27701 award extends its controls into privacy management, giving users stronger rights and safeguards. By aligning with international standards, KuCoin said it ensures privacy measures run through every step of the data lifecycle, from collection and use to storage and disposal.

ISO 27701 and Crypto Privacy Controls

KuCoin’s team explained that the ISO 27701 framework equips the platform with structured privacy controls designed to minimize risks such as data breaches. With global regulatory expectations increasing, this certification signals compliance readiness for multiple jurisdictions.

The company said it has embedded practices such as internal data scans, encryption protocols, and desensitization of sensitive user information. Privacy Impact Assessments are also carried out before research and development, ensuring new features align with data protection rules.

The exchange has also implemented procurement risk assessments for its information system acquisitions. This means every external system must pass through strict reviews before integration. KuCoin reported that this reduces vulnerabilities and strengthens its wider security architecture.
