Lucid stock surged 11% on Tuesday, reaching $3.13 per share after the luxury electric vehicle maker announced Tesla Supercharger network access for its Air sedan owners. The move comes just days after a major Uber partnership sent shares soaring 39%.

Starting July 31, 2025, all Lucid Air owners can tap into Tesla’s expansive North American charging infrastructure. The access requires an approved adapter that costs $220, a small price for buyers of the $70,000+ luxury sedan.

The announcement represents another step forward for Lucid after a challenging period. The stock remains down 27.9% from its 52-week high of $4.26 reached in August 2024.

Tesla’s Supercharger network has become the de facto standard for electric vehicles in the US. Ford, GM, Rivian, and now Lucid have all joined the charging ecosystem in recent months.

Charging Speed Trade-offs

While Air owners gain access to thousands more charging stations, they face some limitations. Lucid’s Air sedan normally charges at up to 300kW at compatible stations, delivering rapid charging speeds.

With the Tesla adapter, that rate drops dramatically to around 50kW. This translates to roughly 200 miles of range per hour, much slower than Lucid’s native charging capabilities.

The reduced speed means Tesla Superchargers work better as backup options than primary charging solutions. Road-trippers and city dwellers with limited charging access will benefit most from the expanded network.

As more non-Tesla vehicles join the Supercharger network, wait times could increase. The Air’s slower charging speeds through the adapter may contribute to longer queues at popular stations.

2026 Model Improvements

Lucid also announced enhancements for its 2026 vehicle lineup. The Air Touring model received a 6% range increase, now offering 431 miles of EPA-estimated range.

The company added new standard equipment across all 2026 models. This includes an improved air conditioning compressor designed for better cooling and reduced noise levels.

These updates show Lucid’s continued focus on improving the customer experience. The range boost helps maintain the Air’s position as one of the longest-range electric vehicles available.

Lucid has experienced extreme volatility over the past year, with 56 moves greater than 5% in share price. Tuesday’s 11% jump follows this pattern of sharp movements on company news.

The latest surge builds on momentum from last week’s Uber partnership announcement. That deal involves deploying 20,000 or more autonomous Lucid vehicles on Uber’s platform over six years, with the first launch expected in a major US city next year.

Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Lucid shares at the September 2020 IPO would now hold an investment worth $310.41. The stock is up just 1.3% year-to-date despite recent gains.
