Ripple Supercharges XRPL with Wormhole Integration for True Multichain Finance
The integration enables seamless cross-chain messaging, asset transfers, and token issuance between over 35 supported blockchains.
Native XRPL assets can now interact with major ecosystems like Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche.
Ripple is enhancing the XRP Ledger (XRPL) by integrating Wormhole with both its mainnet and the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) sidechain. The integration is designed to bolster XRPL’s multichain interoperability capabilities, enabling seamless messaging, asset transfers, and the issuance of tokens across multiple blockchains.
This upgrade means XRPL-native tokens, including XRP, IOUs and Multi-Purpose Tokens, can now move across over 35 blockchain networks, including prominent platforms like Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche. This enhanced interoperability is designed to meet the increasing demand from developers and institutions looking for robust cross-chain DeFi and tokenisation solutions.
Wormhole has a strong history, having processed over US$60 billion (AU$91.60 billion) in cross-chain volume and delivered one billion cross-chain messages since 2020. Its client base includes significant financial institutions such as BlackRock, Apollo, and Securitize.

The incorporation of Wormhole complements existing interoperability efforts with protocols like Axelar, reinforcing XRPL’s modular infrastructure approach. Furthermore, Wormhole’s messaging infrastructure enables cross-chain smart contract functionality, opening avenues for more versatile multichain financial applications.
David Schwartz, Ripple CTO and co-creator of XRPL, noted that “With this integration, tokens natively issued on the XRP Ledger are being set up for that reality by being able to move between blockchain networks while maintaining native issuance, and control.”
If you want real mass adoption, interoperability is essential. The infrastructure has to be there, not just on one chain, but across them.
Recent developments from Ripple in June include XRPL’s adoption of Circle’s USDC stablecoin and Ondo Finance’s support for XRPL within its onchain US government debt product. Ripple also intends to launch its EVM sidechain in the second quarter of 2025.
With its focus on compliance, rapid settlement, and institutional-grade tokenisation, Ripple continues to position XRPL as a key component in the infrastructure of blockchain-based finance.
