Analyst believes SOL could offer more upside than BTC in the next 12 months Bitcoin outperformed Solana by over 50% in Q1 2025 Solana [SOL] could beat Bitcoin [BTC] in investor returns over the next 12 months. This was the bold prediction made by Mert Mumtaz, founder of Solana-focused developer platform Helius Labs. In fact, Mumtaz claimed that SOL had more upside potential than BTC. He stated, “SOL is the most obvious crypto bet…BTC has a good case too, but just basic math on market cap and upside.” On key catalysts for the aforementioned SOL upside, Mumtaz added, “It is the most battle-tested with the highest concentration of talent with a balance of retail and institutional and has easily the biggest improvements in crypto history to come in 2025 (doubled blockspace, several new validator clients, new consensus, etc).” In fact, he had previously predicted that SOL might hit $500 in 2025. Can SOL outshine BTC, ETH? Last month, MultiCoin Capital partner Kyle Samani doubled his bet on SOL and said it would outperform Ethereum and Bitcoin. “Latency, throughput, and gas costs—Solana has it all covered. While Bitcoin and Ethereum are still playing the scarcity game, Solana is directly embracing the future!” Samani was convinced that Solana could beat Ethereum in the DeFi and payments sectors and eventually, become a trillion-dollar asset. Even so, at the time of writing, SOL was struggling to hold above $100 amid macro uncertainty. If Samani and Mumtaz’s projections are validated, the current value would be a great discount. Another bullish catalyst would be U.S Spot SOL ETF approval. Worth noting, however, that a similar update didn’t boost ETH much.
