Privacy, autonomy, scalability. With QVAC, artificial intelligence finally becomes ours: local, modular, without APIs, cloud, or gatekeeper. What is QVAC and why it can revolutionize AI In the heart of AI Week, QVAC was presented, an acronym for Quantum Vault Automatic Computer. It is an open-source project that proposes a radical and powerful vision: to make artificial intelligence decentralized, sovereign, and under the full control of the user. In the current world, the most advanced AIs are centralized, dependent on API keys, and based on remote data centers. This implies that our personal data, our questions, and our interactions are sent and stored by third-party companies, often without real possibility of verification or control. QVAC completely overturns this paradigm, proposing a peer-to-peer style distributed structure, inspired by BitTorrent, in which the AI operates directly on our devices, without going through any central server. Not Your API, Not Your Intelligence: the cardinal principle of QVAC The motto of the project is clear and provocative: “Not your API, not your intelligence.” A direct reference to the crypto world (Not your keys, not your coins), which highlights a key point: if you do not own the infrastructure that hosts your AI, you do not truly own the AI. Today, most artificial intelligences – from ChatGPT to Copilot – are accessible only through APIs managed by large companies. And every request we send to these AIs is, in fact, a free transfer of data and computational power. With QVAC, however, the code is yours. The models are yours. The intelligence is yours. An open source SDK to build sovereign and modular AI At the center of the project is the imminent release of a completely open source Software Development Kit (SDK), scheduled for September. This SDK will allow anyone to develop local, modular, independent, and…
