UFC legend Conor McGregor has proposed that his homeland join the rest of the world in setting up a strategic crypto reserve. According to McGregor, the digital was created to give power to the people, and an Irish Bitcoin strategic reserve will give power to the people’s money. The talk about a Bitcoin or crypto strategic reserve has gained widespread attention this year after the United States of America announced the formation of its crypto stockpile. According to an executive order signed by President Donald Trump, the strategic reserve will consist of Bitcoin and other digital assets including Ethereum, Cardano, and Ripple’s XRP. Aside from the United States, countries like El Salvador and Bhutan have made moves to include Bitcoin into their strategic reserves. El Salvador, once known as a proponent of the asset through its leaders’ unwavering purchase of the asset, has taken a slowed pace, but is still actively racking up the asset. While it has not been established if other countries are going to enter the group anytime soon, McGregor is hoping that Ireland can see that the people want it and adopt it. While he spoke about the likelihood of adding Bitcoin and other digital assets, many of the commenters urged him and his country to focus on the largest digital asset by market.
