The company, best known as the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, has now built a U.S. dollar war chest totaling about $2.19 billion. That cushion was expanded through steady equity sales over recent weeks, a process that injected hundreds of millions of dollars into the balance sheet without causing notable stress to trading volumes.

Cash first, questions later

Analysts at TD Cowen view the liquidity buildup as a decisive signal. With current reserves, Strategy can meet interest expenses and preferred dividend obligations for close to three years even if market conditions fail to improve. In practical terms, this removes one of the biggest risks hanging over the stock – the fear that a prolonged crypto downturn could force unfavorable financing or asset sales.

From TD Cowen’s perspective, the move reframes Strategy’s narrative. Instead of being seen as overly exposed to Bitcoin volatility, the firm now appears positioned to ride out a downturn on its own terms. Analysts argue this materially weakens concerns about access to capital markets, which have followed the company since its aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy began.

A volatile stock with asymmetric potential

Strategy’s shares have struggled this year, reflecting both broader crypto weakness and the stock’s inherent leverage to Bitcoin price swings. Even so, TD Cowen maintained a bullish stance, keeping a $500 price target over a 12-month horizon. The firm acknowledged that the target looks disconnected from current prices, but stressed that Strategy does not behave like a conventional equity.

Instead, the stock amplifies Bitcoin’s movements – both up and down. When sentiment shifts, that leverage can work quickly in the company’s favor, particularly if Bitcoin recovers and Strategy’s premium to net asset value expands again.

Bitcoin remains the centerpiece

None of the balance-sheet engineering changes the core of Strategy’s investment case: Bitcoin exposure at scale. The company currently controls more than 671,000 BTC, a position worth tens of billions of dollars and unmatched by any other public firm. TD Cowen expects that figure to keep growing, projecting total holdings could approach 835,000 bitcoin by the end of fiscal 2027.

Based on those assumptions, the analysts estimate that Bitcoin’s intrinsic contribution to Strategy’s share value could reach roughly $380 within a year, climbing further over longer timeframes. That valuation framework underpins their confidence that recent liquidity moves meaningfully strengthen the long-term outlook.

A shifting backdrop for crypto firms

Beyond company-specific actions, TD Cowen also pointed to subtle changes in the regulatory environment. The U.S. Federal Reserve’s recent request for feedback on limited-access payment accounts for certain institutions suggests a gradual softening toward crypto-related firms operating closer to the traditional financial system.

Combined with Strategy’s fortified cash position, the analysts see these developments as early signs that the market may be transitioning away from a deep freeze. While volatility remains high, the firm argues that the groundwork for a more constructive phase – a “crypto spring” rather than another winter – is quietly being laid.
