For context, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has recently come under fire from a federal judge who accuses the agency of presenting “materially false and misleading representations” in a crypto case. Meanwhile, this comes amid a series of legal setbacks for the SEC, raising concerns about its conduct in crypto-related matters. Judicial Rebuke and Allegations of Misrepresentation A federal judge has reprimanded the SEC for its handling of a case involving crypto firm Debt Box, citing concerns over “materially false and misleading representations.” Notably, the judge’s criticism stems from the SEC’s alleged actions leading to the freezing of millions of dollars in assets belonging to the crypto company. In addition, the court has demanded an explanation from the SEC, contemplating sanctions for what appears to be a breach of trust.
