In line with its mission for financial inclusion and spreading blockchain education in the country, Binance, one of the world’s leading blockchain ecosystems and infrastructure providers, visited Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.
Binance’s country manager for the Philippines, Kenneth Stern, conducted a seminar titled “MONEY WISE: Breaking Barriers in Bitcoin” and talked to over 400 students, touring them deep into the realm of digital assets as well as sharing about how crypto works and also debunking some common misconceptions that people might have.
“Closing the knowledge gap is essential when it comes to crypto. The Web3 industry is still very much in its infancy, and we see Binance as a very small part of a much larger financial ecosystem. Our role is focused on providing a user-friendly, safe, and convenient channel for users to enter and explore the ecosystem of decentralized finance,” he shared.
According to Binance, its visit to Lyceum is part of its “collective effort to increase crypto adoption in the region and is one of the many ways Binance is educating the future batch of professionals for the era of Web3.”
Aside from Lyceum, Binance also had a partnership with another collegiate institution this year. It partnered with the management students of Enderun Colleges with the aim to further boost web3 education in the Philippines. The exchange also conducted a cybercrime education session with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) – Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) in September.
During the Global Blockchain Summit, Stern, along with other local web3 industry leaders, established the Web3 Alliance, which signed a solidarity statement, answering the government’s call for action to further improve blockchain adoption in the Philippines.
