NAIROBI (Coinchapter.com) – Binance’s Nadeem Anjarwalla, an executive of the company implicated in tax evasion and money laundering charges, faces extradition to Nigeria. Garba Umar, Vice President of INTERPOL’s Africa Executive Committee, announced the move on Channels Television’s “Sunrise Daily.”

Anjarwalla’s Escape and Manhunt

Anjarwalla, along with colleague Tigran Gambaryan, Binance’s head of financial crime compliance, faced arrest on February 28. However, on March 22, Anjarwalla fled from a guest house in Abuja while being temporarily led to a nearby mosque for prayers during Ramadan. Reports suggest he used a Kenyan passport to escape Nigeria, as he holds British and Kenyan citizenship.

Garba Umar, Vice President of the INTERPOL (Africa) Executive Committee, confirmed that the paperwork for Anjarwalla’s extradition has commenced.

Notably, reports last week suggested Kenyan police had apprehended Anjarwalla. However, Umar could not confirm these details. Umar reiterated that Anjarwalla was last spotted in Kenya, and that extensive efforts have been made to track his movements to ensure he does not elude justice.

“Rest assured, we located where he was, how he boarded, all information about him, and how he landed. We have done that to make sure that he doesn’t escape justice,”

Umar stated.

While Umar acknowledged that Anjarwalla’s exact whereabouts remain uncertain, he revealed that “the last destination I know on my record of this guy when he fled (Nigeria) was Kenya.” This information provides a starting point for intensified efforts to track down the elusive executive.

Moreover, Nigerian authorities have rallied international cooperation, underscoring their resolve to bring Anjarwalla to justice. As the investigation unfolds, all eyes are on the coordinated efforts between INTERPOL, Nigeria, and potential host nations to apprehend the wanted Binance executive.
